20 Minute Shredded Chicken
Easy Stovetop Shredded Chicken (Perfect for Tacos)
This is one of those back-pocket recipes I make on repeat. It’s simple, juicy, kid-friendly, and super versatile—aka perfect for busy weeknights when you need dinner now.
I love using this shredded chicken for tacos, bowls, salads, or even switching up the flavor with BBQ sauce. Minimal ingredients, big payoff.
Ingredients
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 packet Siete Mild Taco Seasoning
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Salt & pepper
1 cup chicken broth
Oil, for cooking
Instructions
Season the chicken
Season both sides of the chicken breasts with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.Sear
Heat a pan over medium heat with a little oil. Add chicken and cook for 4 minutes per side, until lightly browned.Simmer
Pour 1 cup chicken broth into the pan. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
Flip the chicken, cover again, and simmer for another 5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.Shred
Transfer chicken to a bowl (I like using my stand mixer for this). Add about ¼ cup of the cooking broth.Season & mix
Add the taco seasoning. If you’re going to use some of the chicken for a different recipe, remove it after shredding and then season for tonight’s dish.If serving kids, I use ½ the seasoning packet.
Use a paddle attachment (or forks) to shred the chicken until fluffy and evenly coated.
Serve & enjoy
Add to tacos, bowls, or salads and enjoy!
